In Twistislamophobia, we are participating in the workshop “Migrations: communication and campaigns” the following 23rd, 24th and 25th of September. This workshop, organized by the Media Dievrsity institute, Al-Fanar Foundation and the Spanish Commission for Refugees (CEAR), aims at improving the communication management and skills for the creation of online campaigns. With this purpose, it is directed to associations and activists specialized in the online fight against racism and islamophobia.
This workshop treats a wide range of topics and tools essential in digital activism, from the development of communication strategies and the formulation of narratives and counternarratives, to the interaction with journalists, the planning of campaigns and the use of effective resources for raising awareness and fighting hate speech. The workshop includes a specific section focusing in refugees and the Muslim population, and the organization of activities to fight Islamophobia. On the last day, the participants will have the opportunity of sketching their own communication campaign, which could be subject to support and funding from the organizing entities.
The workshop is part of the European Project Stop-Islamophobia, which involves the Al-Fanar Foundation, the Transnational Institute (Netherlands), Izi Solutions (Netherlands), NOOR Foundation (Netherlands), Spin Watch (UK), Un Ponte Per (Italy) and the Committee Justice et Liberté pour Tous (France). In addition to Spain, the workshop will also take place in Italy, Germany, Slovenia and Croatia.
