These monuments, among the many more existing, stand out as a reminder of the possible coexistence of faiths, and an example and aim to look towards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following short collection lists eight of the most important monuments in the world in terms of interfaith dialogue and interfaith relations.<\/p>\n<p>By the term \u201cmonument\u201d I refer to a building or structure created to commemorate a person, event, or social bond which has significance in regards to improving relations between the Abrahamic faiths.<\/p>\n<h3>1-\u00a0The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_5706\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5706\" class=\"wp-image-5706 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monument_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monument_1.jpg 640w, https:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monument_1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monument_1-620x414.jpg 620w, https:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monument_1-192x128.jpg 192w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5706\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Benjamin<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the most revered shrine in Christendom, stands in the walled Old City of Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p>The Church, which was built on the site of the crucifixion, tomb, and resurrection of Jesus, has been protected by two Palestinian Muslim families \u2013 the Nuseibehs and Joudehs \u2013 for over 1,000 years.<\/p>\n<h3>2-\u00a0Maimonides Statue in Old Jewish Quarter, Cordoba, Spain<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_5699\" style=\"width: 439px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5699\" class=\"wp-image-5699 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monuments_2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"429\" height=\"641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monuments_2-1.jpg 429w, https:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monuments_2-1-201x300.jpg 201w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 429px) 100vw, 429px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5699\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo_ Jaime P\u00e9rez<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In Tiberiadus Square in the Old Jewish Quarter of Cordoba, Spain stands a statue of Moses Maimonides, a great Jewish philosopher who flourished as an intellectual leader under Muslim rule.<\/p>\n<p>Between the years 711 and 1085, Muslim-ruled Spain sustained a harmonious society under the guiding principle of conv\u00edvenc\u00eda \u2013 which can literally be translated as \u201cliving with-ness,\u201d or \u201crequiring tolerance.\u201d This policy ushered in a \u201cJewish Golden Age\u201d in which Maimonides was its shining star.<\/p>\n<p>The Maimonides statue represents tolerance and mutual admiration between Muslims and Jews, and serves as a link between Western\/Christian and Jewish thought.<\/p>\n<h3>3-\u00a0The Tri-Faith Center, Omaha, Nebraska<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5709\" src=\"http:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monuments_3-1024x601.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"364\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Tri-Faith Initiative, an interfaith organization in Omaha, Nebraska, recently developed a plan to build the Tri-Faith Center.<\/p>\n<p>The concept, as KETV reports, is to \u201cbuild a Jewish temple, Islamic center, and Episcopalian church all on one property and connected by walkways that meet at a tri-faith center meant to encourage education and understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The architects purposely built these structures next to each other in order to educate people on the importance of interfaith dialogue.<\/p>\n<h3>4-\u00a0Shrine of Rumi, Konya, Turkey<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5711\" src=\"http:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_monuments_4-1024x730.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"442\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This grandiose building, which functions as both a museum and shrine, is the resting place of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, the 13th century mystic Sufi Muslim poet popularly referred to as Rumi.<\/p>\n<p>Rumi\u2019s sublimely beautiful poetry often touched upon pluralism and love of humanity by focusing on how groups such as Jews, Christians, and Muslims had much in common. The building, which was converted into a mosque after Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul) was conquered by the Ottoman Turks in 1453, inspired Muslim architects who later went on to design some of Istanbul\u2019s most marvelous mosques.<\/p>\n<p>Hagia Sophia is no longer a place of worship, but rather an \u201cinterfaith museum\u201d which displays art and relics from Christendom\u2019s and Islam\u2019s glorious histories.<\/p>\n<h3>7-\u00a0Saint Catherine\u2019s Monastery, Mount Sinai, Egypt<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5713\" src=\"http:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_Monuments_7-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the oldest Christian communities in the world, Saint Catherine\u2019s Monastery on Mount Sinai, Egypt is home to Prophet Muhammad\u2019s covenant in which he guarantees Christian monks protection and freedom of religion.<\/p>\n<p>The Monastery, a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site, is a symbol of tolerance and dialogue between Christians and Muslims.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0believed to be the oldest working Christian monastery in the world.<\/p>\n<h3>8-\u00a0The Ibidat Khana, Fatehpur Sikri, India<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5715\" src=\"http:\/\/twistislamophobia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Interfaith_Monuments_8-1024x884.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"535\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Akbar the Great, Mughal Emperor in the mid-to-late 16th century, built the Ibidat Khana, or \u201cHouse of Worship,\u201d in the city of Fatehpur Sikri, India.
