This article provides with a tool kit to fight Islamophobia, developed by the research and counter Islamophobia platform Islamophobia Studies Center (ISC), as a response to the rise of Islamophobia and right wing movements we are currently experiencing, not only in the US, but also in Europe and the rest of continents.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Islamophobia Studies Center (ISC)<\/a> is an educational and research ONG dedicated to the countering of Islamophobia, located in the United States. It focuses on a systematic and empirical approach to the study of lslamophobia and its impact on Muslim communities, providing tools for the fight against Islamophobia and promoting research and civil society actions.<\/p>\n

Throughout the tool kit, different solutions and recommendations are posed for the fighting of Islamophobia in several fields: in law enforcement, at work, at university campuses, on the internet, and, finally, on the media. The initiative finds its root on the worrying numbers of Islamophobia rising recently published by CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations)<\/a>, which register a rise in Islamophobic attacks against the Muslim population of the US of a 15% in the last year, reaching 2,599 hate crime attacks only in 2018.<\/p>\n

Responses against Islamophobia<\/h3>\n

The tool kit, finally, proposes 10 different responses against Islamophobia, which you may see developed in the document underneath, and which comprise the following initiatives:<\/p>\n

  1. The understanding of countering Islamophobia as a collective responsibility.<\/li>\n
  2. Exposing and marginalizing Islamophobic voices.<\/li>\n
  3. Embracing Muslims as equals.<\/li>\n
  4. Raising awareness about Muslim women being the primary targets of Islamophobia.<\/li>\n
  5. The need to build a new civil and human rights coalition.<\/li>\n
  6. Amplify credible voices from civil society and providing sound research.<\/li>\n
  7. Develop a Rapid Civil Society Response Team.<\/li>\n
  8. Incubating funds and endowment to counter Islamophobia.<\/li>\n
  9. De-Link Defeating lslamophobia from the concept of Countering Violent Extremism.<\/li>\n
  10. Sharing and highlighting sound research.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n \t
