In this article, Gezim Osmani<\/a>, activist and writer for The Muslim Vibe<\/a> reflects on the positive impact some football players\u2019 public embracement of Islam is having. As the author reflects, football players exert a very big influence on society as a whole, whereas it is on haircuts, clothes or opinions. The presence of Muslim football players can then be a very important element for the normalization of Muslims across Western societies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lately, I\u2019ve been intrigued by recent events that have been taking place in the UK. One of these events was the \u201cPunish a Muslim day\u201d, where Muslim communities were receiving hateful letters and what awards there would be if \u201cyou punish a Muslim\u201d, below is a short text from New York Times:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe anonymous letters arrived this weekend in plain white envelopes with second-class\u00a0<\/em>stamps\u00a0and were sent to people in at least six communities in England. Inside was a message so hateful that it sent out ripples of alarm and prompted a national counterterrorism investigation.<\/em><\/p>\n

The message said that April 3 would be \u201cPunish a Muslim Day,\u201d and that points would be awarded for acts of violence: 25 points for pulling off a woman\u2019s head scarf, 500 points for murdering a Muslim and 1,000 for bombing a mosque.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The second moment, that made me write about this topic, is of a young boy scoring a penalty and celebrating the \u201cMo Salah\u2019s way\u201d just as in the video below:<\/p>\n
