Unfortunately, it has historically been also a common means for the misrepresentation of the Muslim population, and its influence has played a prominent role in the construction of stereotypes and prejudices surrounding the Muslim population. Inspired by a speech of musician and actor Riz Ahmed to the House of Commons in 2017, scholars Sadia Habib y Shaf Choudry have developed the Riz test for the evaluation of the representation of Muslims in the media.
